Weddings & "Hand-fastings"
Our Lord and Lady of the Trinacrian Rose Church has a long-standing tradition of offering commitment ceremonies to both mixed gender and same gender couples seeking to establish themselves in a committed relationship.
We have offered these ceremonies in settings ranging from churches and hotel function rooms, to garden ceremonies and backyards.
With the Massachusetts Supreme Court decision that ruled same-gender marriages are legal, effective May 18, 2004 we began offering same-gender legal wedding ceremonies. With the US Supreme Court decision, we extended this to other US states where our clergy resides, and with consideration for any local exceptions. International clergy follow the rules of their respective nations.
Our church has clergy throughout Massachusetts as well as many other U.S. states that are recognized for purposes of conducting legal marriage ceremonies. If you would like a referral to a local person, please contact us.
If you need us to help provide a church facility, please contact us substantially in advance (6 months or more recommended) of planning your wedding. In fact, a year (12 months) is not an unreasonable amount of time for such a special occasion. This is not a guarantee we can provide space, but we may be able to point you in the right direction. We presently do not maintain our own chapel building.
Please contact us at least 8 weeks in advance of your chosen wedding date if you already have a location to assure someone from our church is available.
An out-of-state wedding require at least 8 weeks advance notice in order for us to obtain a non-resident clergy license for the event if there is no resident clergy from our church in your state, or as may be required by local statute regarding non-resident clergy.
For a legal wedding, you must obtain (in advance), a valid marriage license from your city or township in accordance with local laws.
Our clergy will retain the license after the ceremony and make the appropriate filings with the city or town clerk where the ceremony was performed as required by law.
Non-binding personal commitment ceremonies (hand-fastings) are available as well.
